Meet ChaChanna
Hey there,
I’m ChaChanna Simpson, a storyteller, writer, and performer who brings humor, heart, and honesty to the stage and screen. I love transforming slice-of-life moments into compelling performances that entertain, inspire, and highlight the beauty in everyday experiences.
As the founder of ChaChanna Writes, I share stories through my YouTube channel and live storytelling shows, blending warmth and wit to create connection. My work spans personal stories and short fiction, always with the goal of drawing audiences in through laughter, reflection, and surprise.
I currently curate and host Storytelling Sundays at The Westport Library, a bi-monthly open mic that welcomes storytellers of all backgrounds. I’ve also performed on stages across the Northeast, bringing my sharp observations and playful presence to audiences eager for authentic stories.
I’m a proud member of Northeast Storytelling (NEST) and the Connecticut Storytelling Center, and I perform with Ubuntu Storytellers. These communities continually inspire me as I grow in my craft and share stories with new audiences.
When I’m not writing or performing, I’m probably planning my next travel adventure, reading a romantasy, learning chess, or competing at trivia nights with my partner.

The B Side of ChaChanna
-
I sometimes refer to myself as Empress ChaChanna, and it tickles me when people call me Empress.
-
My voice is melodious (singing and speaking).
-
Everyone in my immediate family has a minimum of two tattoos. Our motto is “a family who tattoos together stays together.” (It’s actually not. I totally just made that up.)
-
My mother and I are the only ones who enjoy watching scary movies so whenever one comes out in the theaters, we go see it. Just in case you’re wondering, I never watch them alone.
-
I love visiting historic homes. I'm just curious aka nosy about how other people lived and decorated their homes.
-
I love traveling. My last trip was to Portugal and my next adventure is Bonaire.
