Meet ChaChanna
Hey there!
I’m ChaChanna Simpson — a storyteller, writer, and performer who brings humor, heart, and honesty to every stage and screen. I transform slice-of-life moments into stories that entertain, inspire, and remind us of the beauty tucked inside everyday experiences.

As the founder of ChaChanna Writes, I share stories through my blog and live storytelling shows, blending warmth, wit, and a natural sense for the emotions that connect us all. I trust my gut when it comes to storytelling — following where a story wants to go and letting it surprise me along the way.

My work spans personal stories and short fiction, always with the goal of drawing people closer through laughter, reflection, and surprise. I currently curate and host Storytelling Sundays at The Westport Library, a bi-monthly open mic event that welcomes storytellers of all backgrounds. I’ve also performed on stages across the Northeast, sharing my sharp observations and playful presence with audiences who love real, heartfelt stories.

I’m a proud member of Northeast Storytelling (NEST), the Connecticut Storytelling Center, and Ubuntu Storytellers — communities that inspire me to keep growing in my craft and sharing stories with new audiences.

When I’m not writing or performing, I’m probably planning my next travel adventure, reading a romantasy, learning chess, or competing at trivia nights with my partner.

The B Side of ChaChanna
-
I sometimes refer to myself as Empress ChaChanna, and it tickles me when people call me Empress.

-
My voice is melodious (singing and speaking).

-
Everyone in my immediate family has a minimum of two tattoos. Our motto is “a family who tattoos together stays together.” (It’s actually not. I totally just made that up.)

-
My mother and I are the only ones who enjoy watching scary movies so whenever one comes out in the theaters, we go see it. Just in case you’re wondering, I never watch them alone.

-
I love visiting historic homes. I'm just curious aka nosy about how other people lived and decorated their homes.

-
I love traveling. My last trip was to Portugal and my next adventure is Bonaire.
