I enjoyed a leisurely paced morning, allowing my body to be my alarm clock. Showered, made breakfast, and sat on the balcony to enjoy these last moments of sunshine and 80-degree temperatures before heading back to snowy Connecticut. On the car ride to the airport, had a delightful conversation with our driver, Boogie (nickname, not his real name), about Beyoncé, Kanye, and The Weeknd. We agreed that we don’t particularly enjoy remakes of songs that we listened to growing up. “They’re ruining my childhood,” Boogie said.
While on the plane, I wrote a fictional story based on a prompt from Writer’s Digest’s February Flash Fiction Challenge. While listening to As I Am by H.E.R., I had a revelation: I didn’t mind returning home at all. I had a wonderful time, but I also have a wonderful life that I eagerly wanted to get back into. My life is pretty dope.
